The "Story" Behind S&M
Here at S&M we really aren't into the whole "S&M" Scene, we just thought it was a fun name (And if you aren't having fun WHY DO IT?)!! SO if you got here by using the SEARCH button, sorry, this is NOT what you had in mind I'm sure!!
Reptiles have been a passion of mine since I got my first ball python on my 18th birthday(6/96)!! After getting the first snake, I had 8 within the next 5 months! HOOKED. All of a sudden I found myself hanging out in the local reptile store whenever I had time, talking to people, buying books, and soaking up ALL the information I could!! I was working 55-70 hours a week at the time, and still managed to spend my two days off a week working at the reptile store working 9-9! And then it happened...My soul mate (I didn't know this at the time) walked in to the store and I couldn't take my eyes off of her, 2 weeks later she was working there (LUCKY ME)!! At this time my collection consisted of mostly boids (Brazilian Rainbow Boas, Argentine Boas, and Common Boas), along with the first thing I ever produced BEARDED DRAGONS!! Anyway, we started working together, talking, and hanging out in the snake room after work! Needless to say the one thing I loved the most brought me the best gift in the world…SHELLEY (That's what the "S" is actually for)!! So where does the "M" come from, well that's me MIKE, the dorky one in the pic!
We have traveled quite a bit in the last few years collecting all sorts of reptiles. We've had anything we thought was cool, not realizing "LESS IS MORE"! We had dwarf monitors, beardies, turtles, colubrids, geckos, poison dart frogs, etc…Well we now focus mainly on various species of geckos, colubrids, and a few other odds and ends. Put two people passionate about the same thing together and you're in trouble, and if the passion is animals, you have a zoo!!
Update 2003 We moved back home to Colorado, and have since gotten a few more animals...not only cold blooded, but warm as well! We are now proud owners of 2 dogs, a boxer male, and a female american bulldog/boxer mix! Things are good. Dorothy said it best "There's NO place like Home!!"
2004...We have cut back on some of our geckos, and are starting to get into poison dart frogs! They are among the most beautiful things I have ever seen! We have kept them in the past as pets, this time around we are going to try our hand at breeding them!
2005...ENGAGED??!! Yes, yes after 6 years I finally got the guts up to take the next step and asked Shelley to marry me. Lucky for me she said yes, and that's where we are at today...NO DATE as of yet, but Shell's working on that as I type. Not a lot new here as far as animals, we are having some success with the poison dart frogs, and hope to keep having more! We are also trying our hand at some leaf tailed (Uroplatus) geckos. They are very interesting, and fit in perfect in the frog room, as they are room temp animals as well!

These pictures are from the now infamous "Chippendog" calendar originally made for Melanie (Shelley's Sister). It's a good thing he doesn't realize how big he is, as I'm sure he wouldn't have liked us taking away his manhood by putting a thong on him while he slept!!
